According to Emergency Ordinance 19/2020, employees who fill in the census form online are entitled to a paid day off.
Requesting the day off is not mandatory, remaining at the employee’s discretion.
The day off for self-censorship is granted based on a request made by the employee proving the self-censorship.
The National Institute of Statistics will issue the proof of self-censorship within a maximum of seven days if the form has been filled in correctly.
The employer should grant the day-off within 12 months, as per planning agreed between the employee and the employer.
According to article 49 of Emergency Ordinance 19/2020, only one paid day off is granted to an employed person, regardless of whether they have carried out the online self-censorship for themselves and other household members.
The employer cannot refuse to grant this day and should highlight the day off in the time and attendance evidence. The day off cannot be rewarded in cash.
