Starting 26th of January, the anti-Covid 19 vaccines will be available for children between 5 and 11 years. The Law 221/2021 adopts a new regulation: the parent who accompanies the minor child (with age under 18 years) or their disabled child (with age under 26 years) at anti-Covid-19 vaccination will benefit from this a paid day by their employer in the day of the vaccination.
The paid day off is available only for one parent and will be requested based on child’s vaccination certificate and followed by the declaration of the other parent that he/she will not request a paid day off for that specific occasion.
In case of single parents, the parent must specify on his declaration that he/she is in a situation set in Law 277/2010 (divorced, single, widow/er).
The law states that the paid day off could be taken only on the day of the child vaccination, not any other day (as in the case of the employee’s vaccination). However, the employee must inform his employer about the days he could take for the child vaccination and plan this action according to both parties’ interests.
The paid days off taken for vaccination are available for every dose of vaccine administration (for the employee and their child/children). They do not affect the annual leave stipulated in the employment contract.
